Product Review: Goldfaden MD Doctor’s Scrub

Physical and chemical exfoliating products have a place in my skincare arsenal for different reasons. My heavy retinol use inevitably means dry, flaky skin on a regular basis. The only scrub that sloughs away the flaky bits is a heavy-duty physical scrub. St. Ives Apricot Scrub may come to mind. It’s cheap, and I do like it for my body but I would never use it on my face. The

Pixi Beauty is a London based skincare and makeup brand. Its skincare range is affordable (most under $30) and infused with botanicals and skin-loving ingredients. In the US, Pixi products can be found in Target and some drugstores. You can shop the entire range online. They offer free shipping on orders over $25. Pixi Beauty is also cruelty-free and does not test on animals. I haven’t been overly impressed with

Product Review: Sunday Riley Luna Retinol Sleeping Night Oil & Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment

Both live up to all the hype they’ve received.  I’ve gone through multiple bottles of each. Luna Retinol Sleeping Night Oil What it claims to do? “Works throughout the night to deliver visibly youthful, luminous, even-toned skin by morning…reduces the appearance of pores and wrinkles, while visibly improving the signs of premature aging: fine lines, uneven texture, age spots, dryness, and dullness. – 96% of women felt their skin looked

Makeup Favorites – September 2019

2019 is my low-buy year in a dedicated effort to use, utilize, and be grateful for the things I already own, but when it comes to makeup and skincare, it is strictly, no-buy. I’m buying replacements only while I use up what I have. Therefore, I’ve been digging into the deep recesses of my makeup cupboard to bring new attention to long-forgotten products. I’ve decluttered some items which brings me

Hall of Fame: Cleansers

I would almost say, “any cleanser will do” since most cleansers and a washcloth will adequately clean the face but there are a few that I think are exceptional. That’s not to say out of the hundreds of cleansers on the market, most don’t rate, they do. They get the job done. Neither does one have to spend very much money on a cleanser. After all, it’s on the skin

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick: My Picks

The best drugstore lipstick range for its creamy formulation, pigmentation, color range, and price, in my opinion, is Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick. I have and have had several shades, and there are many more that I would like to try. They rival any department store brand and continue to prove one does not need to spend a lot of money on deeply rich, vivid, and comfortable lipsticks. Below are my

Current A.M. & P.M. Skincare Routine – August 2019

My morning skincare routine: Step 1: Cleanse/Exfoliate MD Complete Restoring Cleanser – I’ve been using this drugstore cleanser morning and night. It’s affordable, hydrating and contains aloe vera, chamomile, and green tea. It removes make-up and leaves my skin feeling nourished. Dr. Sebagh Deep Exfoliating Mask – I’ve loved Dr. Sebagh products for years and this one is a favorite. A few mornings per week, I apply this exfoliating mask.

Catrice Light Correcting Serum Primer in Candlelight – I love this inexpensive liquid primer. Use under makeup for a soft glow. Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation – This has been a longtime favorite foundation of mine. It works best for me when applied with a sponge and I can push it into the skin for light coverage. I use shade No. 51 Light Vanilla. Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer – I like

If you’re a connoisseur of quality skincare, a stroll through any French pharmacy is a self-care experience like no other.
