Hall of Fame: Matrixyl Serums

Matrixyl is a peptide combination invented and trademarked in France. Its development was a breakthrough in anti-aging technology and it’s found in hundreds of skincare products. There are three types, or generations: Matrixyl™, Matrixyl™ 3000, and Matrixyl™ synthe’6. One is not necessarily better than the other. My skin benefits greatly from any or all combinations which is why I include it regularly into my regimen. Matrixyl signals your body to

Makeup Favorites: March 2019

Wet n Wild Dewy Lumineux Primer – This primer is a very sheer gold color and I like the luminosity it gives my skin under foundation. I cannot find this version but a similar one is available at drugstores. BOURJOIS 123 Perfect Color Correcting Foundation – I’m a long time fan of BOURJOIS makeup, their foundations especially. Not easily found in the US but they are available online and in

Pharmacy: Montreal, Quebec City

A quick post today highlighting some of my favorite skincare finds from Quebec, Canada. The best part about making a pharmacy run to Quebec is the wonderful abundance of all my French AND Canadian skincare favorites in one place. I’ll admit, I hit three pharmacies in total in order to pack my suitcase to the maximum with products; some new to test, some old favorites, from Indeed Labs, Coup d’Eclat,

Current A.M. & P.M. Skincare Routine – January 2019

My current morning skincare routine. Step 1: Cleanse Murad Age Reform AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser – I like to begin each morning with a mild scrub. This one from Murad contains the main three; salicylic acid, lactic acid, and glycolic acid yet it’s not too harsh. Available where Murad is sold. Step 2: Treatmen0.5 mm Derma Roller – I’m trying to use my derma rollers more frequently to get all the

Hall of Fame: Eye Shadow Primers

Where were these back in the day when I was younger? I’ve suffered my share of bad eye looks from creasing between the time I left the house in the morning to walking into work. Using a primer under shadow helps your eye makeup last all day and/or night ensuring that your makeup looks more polished and professional. I’ll never be without one. Below are my fail-safe favorites. Urban Decay

Hall of Fame: Eye Creams

The eye creams I’ve included here in my Hall of Fame focus on anti-aging meaning that they deliver some form or forms of active, anti-aging ingredients aside from mere hydration. I’ve been testing more affordable eye creams as of late and will include some of them in an upcoming post but none to date deliver the results of the following eye creams that come at a higher price. I will

Pharmacy: Vancouver BC

I’ve been traveling to Vancouver, BC for decades. It’s one of my favorite cities to visit. While my main objective is usually to visit friends, explore the city and surrounding area, eat good food, and hit the shops on Robson Street, a beauty run to the nearest pharmacy is always on the list. It goes without saying that there are numerous skincare and makeup brands available in Canada that one

My 10 Best Beauty Discoveries of 2018

Garden of Wisdom Skincare – In the same vein as The Ordinary and Indeed Labs, Garden of Wisdom offers active ingredient skincare at a very affordable price. These brands (including The INKEY List) are the disrupters in the overpriced, overpackaged, highly marketed beauty industry that we’ve known for decades. I’m excited about the products and thrilled to support the brands. The INKEY List – This no-faff budget skincare line was

Makeup Favorites: January 2019

2019 is the year of my low-buy as I focus on using up products that I own before I buy new ones. My current makeup routine here includes a few things I purchased last year as well as some old favorites that I need to use up before they expire. e.l.f Beauty Shield Primer + SPF – I didn’t care for this primer at first but then I learned to

Haircare Graveyard

THE GRAVEYARD.  I probably spend more money resulting in the most disappointment on haircare than any other beauty product.  I update this post regularly.  To the rundown: THE WINNERS.Haircare products that I loved and will/have repurchase(d). The Caviar line is excellent, and I love the smell of Klorane dry shampoo. Few shampoos for color treated hair truly protect my color.  Color Proof is one as is this from Biolage.  Mane
