My 10 Best Beauty Discoveries of 2018

Garden of Wisdom Skincare – In the same vein as The Ordinary and Indeed Labs, Garden of Wisdom offers active ingredient skincare at a very affordable price. These brands (including The INKEY List) are the disrupters in the overpriced, overpackaged, highly marketed beauty industry that we’ve known for decades. I’m excited about the products and thrilled to support the brands. The INKEY List – This no-faff budget skincare line was

Makeup Favorites: January 2019

2019 is the year of my low-buy as I focus on using up products that I own before I buy new ones. My current makeup routine here includes a few things I purchased last year as well as some old favorites that I need to use up before they expire. e.l.f Beauty Shield Primer + SPF – I didn’t care for this primer at first but then I learned to

Haircare Graveyard

THE GRAVEYARD.  I probably spend more money resulting in the most disappointment on haircare than any other beauty product.  I update this post regularly.  To the rundown: THE WINNERS.Haircare products that I loved and will/have repurchase(d). The Caviar line is excellent, and I love the smell of Klorane dry shampoo. Few shampoos for color treated hair truly protect my color.  Color Proof is one as is this from Biolage.  Mane

Makeup Favorites: November 2018

I’m putting myself on a “low-buy” for the next six months when it comes to makeup so I can use up what I have before I buy anything new.  For the most part, I’ve been sticking to one routine a month in order to make a real effort to use up makeup that I own and not waste it.  This routine is my current mainstay.  Tarte Rainforest of the Sea

Best Red Lipsticks

One of the quickest and easiest ways to wake up the face and pull a look together, regardless of what you’re wearing, is to put on a red lip. That and the fact that red lipstick never goes out of style.  These are my Top 6 favorite red lipsticks in no particular order.  All of them have a few things in common.  All have a satin finish, none are matte.

Budget Beauty Bible: Makeup – Best Beauty Buys Under $20

My favorite budget makeup picks.  All have a list price of below $20 but can be purchased for much less when bought on offer or with a drugstore coupon.  I rarely pay full price for drugstore makeup because there are always sales to be found.  Loyalty programs can result in big discounts by using points or coupons.  I’m partial to CVS, Walgreens, and Ulta.  This is where I get the biggest

Makeup Favorites: September 2018

My makeup routine of the past month including some new discoveries and old favorites.  Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation – A favorite drugstore foundation of mine. It’s light to medium coverage. I use the shade, Soft Ivory. Available at Ulta. Tarte Undereye Corrector – I love peachy cream corrector concealers. I’m on my second pot of this one. It’s not too heavy under the eyes, counters my undereye darkness and

Talking Palettes

I am long overdue for an edit and declutter of my eyeshadow palettes.  I’m a huge fan of palettes because you almost always get more for your money considering a single eyeshadow can average $6.00 at the drugstore, MAC eyeshadows are $17.00 each, and more for single luxury eyeshadows.  Armani single eyeshadows are a whopping $32.00 a piece.   Having said that, I’ve vowed not to buy any new palettes

Makeup Favorites: July 2018

This has been my makeup routine as of late.  It may seem burdensome but I can do it in ten minutes if I need to. NEUTROGENA Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint – An excellent light coverage foundation that leaves my skin looking hydrated.  This is supposed to be a dupe for La Mer’s Soft Fluid foundation that costs $120.   I tested it and they are very similar.  Both are light

Hall of Fame: Primers

I don’t use primers often but there are some that I think really make a difference in the final result of my make-up.  I have a dry skin so I go for primers that illuminate and brighten as opposed to ones targeting oil control or pore size.  LE BLANC DE CHANEL ILLUMINATING BASE does exactly what it says it does.  I love this under foundation.  I discovered Too Faced Hangover
