Full disclosure. I do not have long and pretty nails. I used to bite my nails when I was younger. Now, I pick at them when I’m stressed or nervous. I can stop myself from time to time when I make a conscientious effort to do so and implement a strict nail care regimen.
Below are a few products and treatments that help me attain relatively decent nails as well as some of my favorite brands of polish. I rarely do gel nails. I can’t be bothered with the expense and salon visits.
All of the nail care I own lives in these baskets above. I intend to pare it down and declutter as the year goes on. I’ve vowed to only buy a replacement top coat or treatment once I’ve run out of one, and furthermore, not to buy any new polishes until I use up much of what I own. My aim is a more streamlined and curated selection of my favorite nail products. Working on this blog post is a step in that direction.
Favorite Nail Polish Brands
O.P.I for bold color selection and lasting polish.
O.P.I mini sets are a good option because how often do we really use an entire bottle of nail polish? There is always a new release of minis around a new movie or some other campaign.
Essie for color range and lasting polish. The blues and greens are favorites. One can find many neutral and sophisticated shades as well.
I also like the way Zoya polish performs.
Favorite Base Coat & Top Coat
Best Nail Polish Remover
Zoya Remove+ Nail Polish Remover is gentle yet effective. It conditions nails and is formaldehyde-free. Available at Ulta.
I have used the ECRINAL nail range from French pharmacy brand, Laboratoire Larima for years. In particular, I love the Penetrating Nail Strengthener and Fortifying Cream. When my nails are in rough shape, this combo brings them back to life. The Fortifying Cream also helps my cuticles. I acquire cuticle oils once in awhile but most of the time, I use this or hand creams to treat my cuticles.
O.P.I Nail Envy helps my nails grow better than any other treatment I’ve used. It has to be the original formulation with green lettering. The pink one does nothing for my nails.
