Luxury Beauty Products I Regret Buying

It’s not that any of these are bad products, just disappointing in my opinion either in application or they were too expensive to justify.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair – I regret buying this because frankly, I just don’t understand the hype.  It’s a longstanding best seller and I’m sure that it has benefits but I didn’t notice any compared to my medical grade serums and some drug store serums such as No7.

Hourglass Veil Primer – I regret buying this because it just didn’t work well on my skin.  I tried for months to make it work.  It was too slippery and I felt my make-up looked worse for wear on days I used it.

Illamasqua Liquid Metal Palette – I regret buying this because of the cost per use.  It cost as much as a large prestige brand eye palette however, I don’t reach for it as often as I do other palettes.  The effect of these metallics is beautiful but one can find similar products to have on hand at the drugstore and still get the look.

Kevin Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer Concealer and Foundation – I regret buying this because I never quite learned how to use it.  It’s too think and full coverage for my dry skin to use as a concealer or foundation.  I could make it work somewhat once I mixed it with a little moisturizer but then it becomes a tinted moisturizer and there are so many fantastic tinted moisturizers on the market for far less money.

Natura Bisse The Cure Sheer Eye – I regret buying this because it’s just too expensive to justify when there are so many affordable concealers, eye serums, and treatments on the market.  It does last a very long time, I will say that, six months at least.

Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate – I regret buying this because the bronzer shade turned out to be too orange for my complexion and left my face looking dirty.  I also hated the packaging; having to fish out all the fluff and brush hairs from the pans.

Zelens Youth Concentrate – I regret buying this because it’s cost prohibitive for continued use.  It’s an excellent, high quality serum as it contains some 8 peptides + retinol but unless money is no object, it’s too expensive to keep in a routine.  And, you don’t need to.  There are so many quality peptide serums on the market at a more affordable price point.

Sisley Eye Concealer – I regret buying this because it is a lot like Clarins Instant Concealer (which is one of my favorites) in coverage and consistency.  Don’t get me wrong, I loved it and would recommend it, but I wouldn’t repurchase it knowing I can get my hands on superb concealers for less.
