Products from Yesteryear

I recently visited The Vermont Country Store which has been around since 1946 and specializing in products from yesteryear.  This place is really neat and makes for a super fun road trip. I picked up several things that I remember from my childhood and others that looked interesting to try. Pinaud Clubman Talc: This is sold as a man’s talc but I loved the men’s cologne scent.  They’ve been making

Product Review: Cleansing Balms

Oil based cleansing balms are an absolute must in my daily cleansing regimen.  If you want to get every trace of eye makeup off in one cleanse and give your skin a boost of nourishment, switch to cleansing balms.  Don’t be put off by the word “oil.”  Our skin needs it.  These balms wash off completely, along with any stubborn mascara, and leaves your skin feeling hydrated and nourished, not

7 Deadly Sins of Beauty Tag

  1. Greed What is your most expensive beauty item?  My most expensive beauty product has to be my Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate which I talked about in my October Favorites.  It cost $75.  It’s a beautiful, product!  Also, my GHD straightener which I think I got on sale for $160. What is your least expensive beauty item?  ESSENCE Gel Eyeliner.  It’s a drugstore bargain at $3.99.  Goes on

December Favorites

Merry Christmas!  It’s time for December Favorites! NARS Guy Bourdin Limited Edition One Night Stand Cheek Palette: A Christmas present I bought for myself and it’s AMAZING.  It was limited edition so if you want it, you’ll have to hunt eBay for it.  It has four great blushes, a bronzer, and a highlighter in one tidy palette.  Love it!   Tom Ford Black Orchid Cologne: I bought this in September and

Product Review: DIOR Crème de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm

I’ve been wanting to try this lip balm for years.  I use Dior’s Creme Abricot nail cream so I’m surprised it’s taken me this long.  It is a slightly plumping, wonderful lip balm.  I keep it by my bed and use it every morning and night.  It has a faint rose smell that’s very nice.  It’s a splurge at $27 but a luxurious gift for your lips. Available at Sephora

Product Review: Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

The Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler acquired cult status years ago and is still the top selling curler today.  This is one of my most essential beauty tools and it still gives my lashes great curl after years of use. At one time it was sold in stores but now you can only get it direct from Shu Uemura for $20.

November Favorites

I have to start with this cool reproduction of a famous Bernard Buffet painting I picked up at an estate sale last month in Connecticut.  I just love it. Caudalie Beauty Elixir: Caudalie’s best selling spray water.  Contains Grape, Orange Blossom, Rose, Mint, and Rosemary.  I use this as a toner before moisturizer and when I need a little pick me up.  It smells amazing.  And as with most beauty
