This summer, my family and I went to Madrid during a heatwave. The blistering temperatures didn’t spoil my fondness for the city. I’d love to visit again, most definitely in the cooler months.
I had a serious browse in Antigua Farmacia de la Reina Madre, the oldest pharmacy in Madrid, created in 1578 by a Venetian alchemist. The carved wood interior, tiles, and old apothecary jars were beautiful. How lucky for locals to claim this gem as their neighborhood pharmacy.
They are well stocked in French skincare but I was looking for active skincare products to sample that are unavailable in the States. I picked up some things to try from two Spanish brands, Marti Derm and ISDIN, both headquartered in Barcelona.
The La Mer SOS Repair Cream is from a German skincare company. I had never heard of it before but many French versions of repair creams are some of my favorite so I’m excited to give this one a go.
I’ve been wanting to try Heliocare sunscreen since reading about it last year. It’s a UK brand that I’ve never been able to find online.
Any given skincare regimen of mine usually lasts 60 days, give or take, before I run out of a particular product. Since I started a new lineup earlier this month, I’ll be able to crack into these this winter and give them a test run.
Here are some of my vacation pics. Can you feel the blistering heat in this photo at Plaza Mayor? We pushed on, walking the city on swollen limbs and despite feeling the slow burn of suffocation, made the most of our experience. Viva la Spain!
