July Favorites

To the list – BUMBLE AND BUMBLE A Tint of Brown Hair Powder: I love this tinted dry shampoo.  It cost more than the tinted Batiste which I use regularly but it can cast a grayish residue and this does not.  Comes in various shades, available at Sephora for $36 and salons. Kerastase Initialiste Advanced Scalp & Hair Serum Concentrate: I’ve just started using this this month and it’s a

Empties: Hits & Misses

More Empties! Hits Botanical Kinetics Exfoliant by AVEDA: A very nice toner.  It exfoliates with salicylic acid for a smoother and clearer complexion.  Available at Aveda salons everywhere.  They’ve been selling this product for many years. Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment by GlamGlow: As I said in my June Favorites post, “Wow!”  This is an awesome mask and I’ve already ordered a new one.  Available at Sephora. Cult! Neutrogena Age Shield Face

Product Review: Bobbi Brown Corrector and Creamy Concealer

I’ve been using these two products for over three months now and have a pretty good impression overall. Creamy Concealer Kit: I started out using this under my eyes as it claims to hide dark circles and brighten but I really had to blot it in and it sat in my fine lines.  I’m sure it’s brilliant on younger skin.  However, I do like it as a general concealer for

Product Review: Olia Hair Color & Vintage Cookbooks!

Olia Oil-Powered Permanent Color by Garnier: This is now my absolute favorite drugstore hair color.  I love it.  It claims to be infused with flower oils and my hair responds well to much needed moisture.  The color is vivid and applies evenly.  My hair was shiny and lasted a good 3 weeks before I needed a touch up.  $9.99 at Ulta or other drugstores. Cookbooks have long been an obsession

Vintage Vases & Containers

I’m a big fan of repurposing old things into my modern daily life.  I love this Italian planter and silver vase.  A little cleaning and polish goes a long way and always brings out the beauty under any dirt or tarnish.

Product Review: Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

Voluminous Butterfly Mascara by L’OREAL: It took me a couple of tries to master the wand but once I did, I got massive lashes.  The regular Voluminous mascara has long been one of my favorites so I new that I would like the formulation.  Give it a go!  Available at drugstores or online. Found this cast iron statue of Ulysses S. Grant at an estate sale recently.

Cult Attraction: Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

Vintage Easter decorations.  I’m a huge fan. I think I need to start a new Hall of Fame category on my blog just so I can put this product in it.  It’s amazing.  Clarins calls its Beauty Flash Balm an Instant Radiance Booster and that’s exactly what it is.  This immediately brightens my skin and makes me look a little more awake (or alive on some days).  I also like

Everything’s Coming Up Roses!

Antique platter thrifted in East Connecticut. I’m obsessed with all things Rose.  Here are some of my rose inspired favorites! Pink Rose Salt: I love culinary salts and always have a little collection on hand in the kitchen.  These pink rose salts have a nice flavor in addition to being absolutely beautiful.  Available online from Mountain Rose Herbs. Rosehip Seed Oil: Rosehip has been used as a facial/cosmetic oil for

Product Review: Skin&Co Roma

I received these two Skin&Co products in a sample box recently.  Mostly, I want to talk about the TRUFFLE THERAPY SERUM which is absolutely wonderful!  It smells wonderful and I noticed a positive effect on my skin almost immediately.  It’s expensive, $75 for 1oz. but I’d buy a full size tube if I came across it again.  Amazon has it at a discount.  Read more about its benefits and ingredients here.

March Favorites

I’m still in Winter mode although it’s technically Spring.  Here are some of my favorites this month. Inglot palette: I went to Inglot at the beginning of March and put together this little palette that I’ve worn most of the month.  I particular like this copper, bronze shade with a little dab of the brick red in the center of the eyelid.  The other two are a charcoal color and
