Happy Thanksgiving. I’m excited to share with you my first Holiday Gift Guide. These are just a few things that I find relatively special. They bring something positive to my daily life therefore, I can recommend them with confidence as you’re looking to buy gifts this holiday season or perhaps a gift to yourself. Enjoy! Weighted Blanket My weighted blanket was the best discovery of the year. It’s a game
Last month I bought this vintage sequined jacket from Liz at THE GOODS vintage clothing (IG:busyladybaca). She has a beautiful collection and this is the second vintage jacket that I’ve purchased from her. I wear all black on most days and there isn’t much in the way of bright clothing in my closet but I was drawn to this coat in all its blazing intensity. I think it’s fantastic. I’ve
I recently visited Gillette Castle with my family. Built in 1914 by American actor, William Gillette, the castle and estate is now a state park with amazing views of the Connecticut River and magical ponds and forests that make up the grounds. We had a lot of fun exploring the place and taking photos of each other. This vintage, black velvet sequined jacket is a favorite find of mine. A few
Summer is over and I couldn’t be happier. Jacket weather is here for the next eight months. There are a lot of new khaki coats and army style jackets in the shops these days although it’s a long-time classic look that never goes out of style. I recommend that you skip the mall, pass on all of the newly released versions and go for the real deal. Government-issued military jackets can
If you’re like me, it’s all in the details when it comes to styling elements. Whether you’re drawn to contemporary home decor and clothing, vintage, or some combination of the two, it’s often the details that draw you in. It could be the color, lines, craftsmanship, originality, other aspects of the items that you choose to decorate your home or wear on your body that makes something special and cherishable.
Recently, I discovered what I think is the greatest thing on the internet. A YouTube channel of ambient sounds set to Harry Potter themes. I’ve listened to back to back hour long episodes as I work or putter around the house. I have since discovered many channels such as this but this is the one I’m obsessed with, ASMR rooms. I highly recommend that you check it out. This got
I’ve loved music all of my life and I’m a dedicated fan of vinyl. As a kid, I spent my allowance on 45’s and always had a lengthy Christmas wishlist of Barbies and the biggest hit records of that year. When it came to books (Scholastic Book Club in particular) and records, my parents always obliged. Being fans of music and books themselves, I assume they were excited to see their
This being the last weekend of summer, I decided to barbeque. As a vegetarian, I don’t partake as often as some but I do love the opportunity to toss some veggie dogs onto the BBQ. My brother-in-law made this awesome cast iron grill and gave it to me as a Christmas gift. It’s perfect. I bought these milk rolls from Trader Joe’s to use for my hot dog buns.
Collecting American vintage workwear has been an interest of mine for a while. Finding sources for very old denim can be tough and I didn’t have any luck until I found a few of vendors at a vintage clothing fair a couple of years ago. I own two pieces of vintage workwear; a pair of blue denim jeans from the 1930’s, and these Hickory Striped trousers from the early 1920’s.
Seriously. I know it sounds harsh but I do hate summer. Always have. As a kid, I was happy to be out of school but that was literally the only thing I liked about summer. I want boots and jackets, falling leaves, hot drinks, a cool breeze or crisp air, and Mac and Cheese. I love Snow Days. I want to live as close to the Arctic Circle as possible.
