13 Nourishing & Anti-Aging Face Oils
Face oils are integral to any comprehensive skincare regimen. Face oils are nourishing, anti-aging, hydrating and healing.
In addition to serums, face oils are my obsession. I do quite a bit of research before I purchase one digging deep into the ingredient list and proposed benefits. I use face oils morning and night, throughout the year, and have an apothecary of face oils in my beauty cabinet to address any skin issue.
Generally speaking, face oils are packed with essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants. Many have anti-inflammatory properties, penetrate deeply and help treat fine lines, dark spots, redness, dryness and angry skin.
Face oils hydrate, moisturize, nourish, soothe, revive, and brighten skin. Even oily skin can benefit from regular use of face oils in a skincare routine without the fear of breakouts.
Best anti-aging face oils
Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil – This lovely face oil is a good all-rounder. It contains argan oil, pomegranate seed oil, and fruit extracts. I like to use this at night when I’m giving my skin a break from retinol or acids. Sometimes, I use a drop to moisturize my skin before I apply foundation if my skin is looking a little dry. $20 and available at Ulta, Whole Foods and Amazon.
Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil – This is the face oil I’ve used the longest. It is the one I reach for when my skin is angry and has multiple issues. It works to restore balance to my skin when I need it. Available at Clarins’ counters for $60.
Sunday Riley Juno Antioxidant Superfood Face Oil – Expensive at $72 yet heavenly on the skin. It’s packed with fatty acids, seed oils, and vitamins. A little goes a long way. I love to use this at night. It has a slight pink tint and will stain white pillowcases but it washes out. Available at Sephora.
Josie Maran Argan Infinity Intensive Creamy Oil – The entire Josie Maran brand is argan oil-based and this creamy oil is my favorite product in the range. It can be used on the face and body. Argan oil boasts many benefits for skin and hair. It can be used to smooth frizzy hair, moisturize dry hands and feet, and soothe irritated skin. $28 at Sephora.
Go-To Face Hero Face Oil – Packed with fruit and nut oils; almond oil, jojoba oil, macadamia oil, brazil nut oil, apricot kernel oil, evening primrose oil, rosehip oil, and kiwi fruit seed oil, this is a divine face oil from Australian skincare brand, Go-To. $34 and available online.
Caudalie Polyphenol Overnight Detox Oil – Contains a luxurious cocktail of organic oils including neroli, lavender, carrot, and sandalwood. It smells wonderful and is deeply nourishing while you sleep. It combats dull skin, texture, and fine lines. $50 at Sephora.
Tarte Maracuja Oil – Maracuja Oil is an emollient oil rich in Vitamin C. It helps to heal dry, chapped skin. It is great for hair. Available at Sephora for $48.
Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial – For a supremely luxurious experience this overnight face oil is the one. Full of antioxidants, vitamins, omega oils, peptides, essential oils, and extracts. Like Juno by Sunday Riley, it also contains Vitamins A and C. $80 and available online.
Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil – This beautiful face oil contains 100% sea buckthorn oil. Sea buckthorn is a popular superfood when ingested. Topically, it is great for inflammatory skin conditions like eczema, rosacea, and acne. As with Clarins Blue Orchid Oil, I reach for this when my skin needs some TLC and healing. Available at Sephora for $53.
Best anti-aging face oils for $15 or less
Pro-Emu Emu Oil – Many emu oils on the market smell terrible. I like this one because it has no scent at all and it’s affordable. Emu oil has many benefits for the face or body. Fatty acids in emu oil help heal skin wounds, calm inflammation or dermatitis, and moisturize the skin. $9 on Amazon.
Nourish Organic Face Serum – One of my favorite organic face oils is this one that contains argan, apricot and rosehip oils. It’s deeply moisturizing and brightening. Available at Whole Foods and Amazon for $12.
Bio-Oil Skincare Oil – This is a multi-use oil great for healing scars and stretch marks on the body in addition to nourishing the face, evening out skin tone, and brightening the skin. About $15 at most drugstores.
Aria Starr Rosehip Oil – Rosehip oil has many benefits besides nourishing the skin. It helps build collagen, helps to reduce redness, inflammation, and hyperpigmentation. It can also help to treat scarring and brighten the skin. It’s affordable and can be used on the face and body. It doesn’t, however, smell of roses. It has a medicinal smell but I don’t mind it. $15 on Amazon.
