Twenty black-owned beauty brands in the skincare, haircare, and makeup space you should know, keep on your radar and support.

The things we have witnessed over the past two weeks have left most citizens of the world overwrought with raw emotions. Sadness, anger, despair come in waves. We are at a tipping point yet I feel hopeful when I see these powerful images of peaceful protests, a surge in activism, and calls for change that is here to stay.

If you feel like you want to do something to stand in true solidarity with the black community, but aren’t sure where to start, here are a few suggestions. I don’t have all the answers. Each of us must do our part to make the world, and America in particular, a better and more just place for every citizen.

Educate ourselves and others on racism and injustices minorities face every single day to become better allies. Donate to organizations on the front lines, doing the hard work even when the world isn’t paying attention. Support black-owned businesses with our hard-earned dollars. Finally, Vote. Elections matter, especially on the local level. It’s the easiest way to send a message about the kind of town, city, country that you want to live in and implement lasting change.
