Best Foundations For Dry Skin
Tried and true, best foundations for dry skin that give a satin or luminous finish without caking or settling into fine lines.
As I go down the path of life, I try to avoid full coverage or powder foundations on my dry skin and choose instead to reach for creamy liquid formulations that give flawless texture and luminosity to the skin. Foundations that cake, oxidize or settle into fine lines have no place in my makeup drawer. These are the ones I rank for dry or mature skin.
Best Foundations for Dry Skin
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation – Buildable, beautiful coverage that will even out skin tone and result in a satin finish. It’s brightening and applies easily. $47.00 at Sephora.
Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick – In a million years, I wouldn’t have thought I could use a stick foundation on my dry skin. This was a revelation. It’s emollient, creamy and buildable to full coverage. Good shade range, $46 at Sephora.
VITALUMIÈRE AQUA by CHANEL – I’ve lost count the number of bottles I have used up. Skin will look absolutely flawless. It’s a light to medium coverage foundation with a dewy, satin finish. I use the lightest shade: Beige. $50 at Chanel counters.
Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation – Created by a Japanese actress in the 1980’s, Koh Gen Do uses plant-based ingredients, jojoba oil, olive squalane, and shea butter. My skin always looks bright and hydrated when using this foundation. I use color 012 for my pale skin. $77 online.
Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation – This foundation really does give a “lit from within” appearance. I use the shade, Shell. It’s medium coverage. $80 at Laura Mercier counters.
MAC Face & Body – An always reliable choice. This is a light to medium coverage foundation that is non-drying and leaves a satin finish to the skin. So good! I’m shade N1. Available at MAC.
Missha Magic Cushion Foundation – Missha makes my favorite BB Cream. It’s no wonder I love their cushion foundation. It’s a sheer to medium coverage foundation. It is easy to apply and has an SPF50++!. $19.00 online.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD – A medium to full coverage foundation. It leaves a very subtle satin finish and comes in a wide range of shades. $43.00 at Sephora.
Maybelline Fit Me Dewy & Smooth Foundation – Another great drugstore formula and a bargain at $7.99. I use the shade 110 Porcelain.
Foundations for Dry Skin at the Drugstore
L’Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation – Said to be a dupe for Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, this creamy, medium coverage foundation wears like a dream and gives skin a subtle glow. $11 at drugstores.
Wet ‘n Wild Photo Focus Foundation – There are many drugstore foundations to love at the moment. Currently, mine is Wet ‘n Wild. It’s fantastic. The coverage is light to medium. The texture is lightweight and it looks like skin. I love both dewy and matte formulas. At $6, it’s one of the best beauty buys on the market.
