Current Anti-Aging Skincare Routine – June 2020

My current anti-aging morning and evening skincare routines include a few new discoveries and old favorites packed with active ingredients.
Morning Skincare Routine
Step 1: Cleanse
CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser – One of the best drugstore cleansers on the market is this one from CeraVe. Most importantly, it’s fragrance-free, affordable and one bottle will last for months. Available at drugstores.
Key Ingredients:
Ceramides are lipids that are good for hydrating the skin barrier. Without ceramides, skin can be prone to dryness and irritation.
Hyaluronic Acid is a clear, gooey substance that is naturally produced by the body. In skincare, it plumps and hydrates the skin.
Step 2: Treat
iS Clinical Youth Complex Serum – I’ve used this comprehensive anti-aging serum for years. It’s formulated with growth factors to reduce fine lines, peptides, hyaluronic acid, and fruit extract acids to aid exfoliation. Available in clinics or online.
Key Ingredients:
Peptides act as messengers, triggering skin cells to perform specific functions such as building collagen and elastin.
Panthenol helps to reduce skin irritation and speed wound healing.
Dimethicone is an emollient used to treat dry, rough, scaly, itchy skin.
Step 3: Moisturize
DR. JART+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream – I’m a big fan of Dr. Jart’s Ceramidin Cream therefore, I was enthusiastic about trying this one. It’s not as moisturizing as Ceramidin. It’s thicker and more like a soothing and moisturizing balm. Available at Sephora.
Key Ingredients:
Centella, Centella Asiatica, or cica, sometimes called tiger grass is a plant that has been used for wound healing for centuries. Tigers in Southeast Asia are known to roll around in it when injured.
Step 4: Protect
ISDIN Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50 – I first bought ISDIN sunscreen while on vacation in Spain. Thankfully, it’s readily available online. This formulation is fantastic. It’s lightweight and sinks into the skin. It’s tinted and provides enough coverage to forgo foundation.

Evening Skincare Routine
Step 1: Cleanse
Pond’s Cold Cream – I’ve been using old school cold cream to remove my eye makeup and have only good things to say about it. It’s cheap at $4.99, effective at removing mascara, and fragrance-free. Available at drugstores.
e.l.f. Bounce Back Jelly Cleanser – For my second cleanse, I’ve been reaching for this gel cleanser. It’s best for oily skin, yet, it works well on my dry skin. It contains coconut juice and soothing aloe vera. $6.00 at Ulta.
Step 2: Treat
Cos de Baha Galactomyces 94% Treatment Serum + Niacinamide 2% – I am still working my way through this budget-friendly serum. The star ingredient is Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, a yeast, and Saki by-product that improves pores, wrinkles, and acne. Available online.
Key Ingredients:
Galactomyces to help reduce blackheads and comedones.
Niacinamide for brightness and fine lines.
Hyaluronic Acid for hydration and plumpness.
SKIN79 Snail Nutrition Ampoule – I have been incorporating this 93% snail mucus into my nighttime skincare routine. I bought this bottle at a K-beauty store and cannot find it online. A great alternative is this one from Cosrx.
Key Ingredients:
Snail secretion filtrate moisturizes skin, promotes collagen production, aids in skin healing and regeneration.
Step 3: Moisturize
Emu Oil – I’ve been locking in serums at night with a light layer of emu oil. Many emu oils smell terrible, yet, this one has no scent and it’s budget-friendly. Available online.
Key Ingredients:
Emu Oil is an essential fatty acid that helps reduce signs of wrinkles, scars, and blemishes by nourishing the skin cells.

Verso Deep Hydration Mask – I used this after many days of my skin feeling extra dry. It restored some hydration and my skin felt plump. Enjoyed it. Available online.
Key Ingredients:
Sodium hyaluronate or hyaluronic acid attracts and holds water into the skin.
Ceramides are lipids and fats that help the skin retain moisture and improve the skin barrier.

Hampton Sun Sunscreen SPF 35 – On my body, I’ve been using this sunscreen spray. I like the spray pump and it blends well into the skin. Available online.
