Makeup Favorites: May 2019

Erborian BB Creme 5 in 1 Baby Skin Effect SPF 20 – This is one of my favorite BB creams of all time and I have been wearing it most days rather than a foundation. If my complexion is clear, I prefer the sheerness of a BB cream. It offers minimal coverage and makes my skin look dewy. I use the lightest shade: Clair. Available online.

NYX HD Photogenic Concealer in CW 01 – An excellent concealer option. Good coverage and doesn’t cake under the eyes. Available at drugstores.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge – I own this makeup sponge as well as a Beauty Blender. This costs a fourth of what a Beauty Blender does and is just as good if not better. If you want your foundation to look like “skin,” apply it with a damp sponge. Makeup artists have been doing this for decades. Available at drugstores.

Rimmel Kate Sculpting Face Palette in Coral Glow – I love this face palette. The shades are perfect for my fair skin. Comes in three options. Great for traveling. Available at drugstores.

Essence Brighten Up Banana Powder – To take the shine off my T-zone, I like this non-cakey face powder. Available at drugstores.

MAC Painterly Paint Pot – For an eyeshadow base, I’ve used Painterly Paint Pot for years. Eye shadow base is a must for me if I want my eye look to last all day. Available at MAC.

Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush – I always apply Painterly with this base shadow brush. It’s synthetic and that’s preferable for cream formulas and it’s the perfect shape for swiping a thin layer over the lid. Available at drugstores.

Kiko Eyebrow Expert 01 – I’m working my way to the bottom of this sweet brow palette from Kiko. It has lasted months and the shades are spot on. Available for $19 online. Kiko is having a promotion thru May 20, 2019. If you buy 4 products, the two cheapest ones are free!

Essence Make Me Brow in Browny Brows – I like to run this through my browns to set them in place. It’s $3 and does the trick. Available at Ulta.

Milani Everyday Eyeshadow Palette in Smoky Essentials – These palettes from Milani are of high quality and a great deal at $11. They have about 10 color choices to choose from. I’ve been using these blues and matte black for eye looks as of late. Available at drugstores or online.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Nillionaire – This is my favorite ColourPop shade. It’s a bronze-gold-pink shade that is extra glittery! I’ve been reaching for this on days when I pass on the blue eyeshadow. I use the taupe shade from the palette in my crease and Nillionaire on my lids for a simple and gorgeous eye look. Available at Ulta.

NYX Color Mascara in Blue – I like to combine blue and black mascara and this one by NYX is good. Available at drugstores.

It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara – A longtime favorite is Superhero mascara. I’m using up a sample size this month but I have purchased the full-size multiple times. Available at It Cosmetics.

Joe Fresh Eyeliner Kohl Pencil in Twilight – Joe Fresh used to be available at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada but they are no longer carrying the line. It’s too bad for I liked many of the products in this affordable drugstore range.

Revlon Photoready Prep, Set, Refresh Spray – This is a solid choice for a drugstore makeup setting spray. I like the smell and it sprays out in a satisfying fine mist. Available at drugstores.

Whirl Lipstick by MAC – I’ve been wearing this wonderful pinky-nude on days I use the blue eyeshadow palette. It’s a matte finish but I add a touch of lip balm over the top. Available at MAC.

Beseme Lipstick 1946 – Paired with Nillionaire eyeshadow, this velvet red shade from Besame is a knockout. I love their entire line. Besame makes some of the best red lipsticks on the market.
